The Rite of Spring (Le sacre du printemps)

Marrinsky Theatre

I was born in the correct generation because I loved those photos so much, I decided to look up the ballet so I could watch it and there it was ! I have added other full length performances as well and for most of the pieces I have added different ballet companies (if I could find) just because different ballet companies means different choreography ( not always but certain companies are reowned for their distinct style)

Enjoy!

Okay also I’ve been driving electric cars long enough now to be really emphatic that the fact that they’re not all automatically built with solar panels in the roofs is a scandal.

And somehow almost every time I tell anyone this they roll their eyes and attempt to explain to me that this would not create a perpetual motion machine because of the limitations of the area relative to the power draw of the motor, which is incredibly annoying because that’s not the point.

Yes it’s possible that driving in the sunshine with a solar collector dripping into the battery would net you a little more mileage on that trip before needing recharge, but the usefulness of a solar-topped electric car is that if you drive it someplace–say, to work–and leave it outside in the sun all day, you’ll definitely have more range available by the time you’re ready to head home.

Also if you fuck up your calculations because of the inefficiency induced by cold weather or something and get yourself stranded without anywhere to charge, like halfway up a mountain or, more likely, six miles from home, you can call for rescue or walk away, come back later, and it’ll be able to move again.

This is important because unlike running out of gas you can’t really go get some electricity.

like imagine if some of the energy that turns into face-melting air when you first turn the AC on was stored as electricity instead of going to waste

Imagine if electric cars were designed and sold on their merits as practical devices and not toys for the rich.

Rebloging to scream that last bit to the back

honestly OP I always wondered the same. it just seemed like the most practical way to use all that surface area.

and then I realized: that totally defeats the purpose, in a capitalist world. because then you really would legit be getting your energy for (effectively) free – or at least, you wouldn’t be paying rent on that use. but then what about all those charging companies looking to make money off you? or the charging stations you needed to pay to have installed at your house or work? and so on?

if the solar cells were efficient enough (and we’ve got roofing looks-like-asphalt tiles now that are solar, it’s not a far-fetched notion to have solar-tile car surface), you could possibly buy the car and never pay for anything to run it again. ever. and if you’re like me, and drive a car until the day it has to be towed away because why replace what runs just fine?

well, we can’t have that in a capitalist world, those CEOs yachts don’t just pay for themselves, y’know.

This looks like a fucking parody post, or an edgy edit, but it’s 100% official real Flintstones.

Clarification: I don’t hate this book, I love it, it’s amazing. It’s just that taking a step back and looking it out of context is still really funny. Especially the line “We participated in a genocide, Barney.”

ok but imagine them in their cartoon forms saying this dialogue i’m

can we have some context to this, perhaps?

Bedrock is having a mayoral election. One of the candidates is a violent war mongering asshole that riles people up against the lizard people. This reminds Fred and Barney of their time in the army.

Back then the father of said violent candidate was riling people up against the “tree people”. Fred, Barney, and other soldiers fought what they believed to be a defensive measure against the tree people. Turns out, it was actually an invasion, in order to kill off the tree people and take over their forest to build Bedrock.

That’s what Fred means when he says he and Barney participated in a genocide. They literally did.

(Extra fun fact, Barney adopted a tree person baby after the war, and his son Bamm-Bamm is the last tree person.)

just fucking read it

There are a lot of interesting things about this post but the AK-47 shaped spear is what really got me

This is just as wild with the context

you-can-always-come-home:

good omens the book, 1990: see, queen is so ubiquitous in london these days that if you leave a tape in a car for too long, it’ll inevitably morph into a best of queen tape. which is why their megahits are playing in crowley’s bentley all the time! isn’t that a funny and topical joke?

good omens the show, 2019-2023: yeah crowley’s car has a hands-free call system and also only plays cassette tapes. yeah it’s whatever don’t think about it. what’s an incredibly earnest and passionate queen love song we can play during this scene where crowley tries urgently to reach aziraphale
